Dit boek is bedoeld voor diegenen die zich bezig houden met geluidsversterking en geluidsdistributie. Het gaat in op de akoestische eigenschappen van open, halfopen en omsloten ruimten. Belangrijk is hoe luidsprekers aangepast kunnen worden op allerlei omgevingen. Meestal moet men een keuze maken uit het aanbod van luidsprekers en microfoons. De vraag is dan welke luidspreker en microfoon de juiste keuze zijn. En hoe deze moeten worden opgesteld waarbij spraak- en muziekverstaanbaarheid en de maximaal haalbare versterking in de live-situatie de belangrijkste criteria zijn. Dit boek geeft antwoord op die vragen. Verder wordt de lezer meegenomen naar het ontwerpen van luidsprekers op basis van de T/S parameters. Met eenvoudige software is het mogelijk akoestische en mechanische elementen van een luidspreker met de eventuele behuizing te vertalen naar de elektrische analogieën, zodat de luidspreker op de PC gesimuleerd kan worden. Aan de hand van rekenvoorbeelden worden bovenstaande simulaties ondersteund. Ist es möglich, Fehler in Röhren und Ausgangstrafos spürbar zu kompensieren? Im vorigen Jahrhundert wurden sehr viele Maßnahmen zum Erreichen dieses Ziels entwickelt. Eine dieser Methoden ist in Vergessenheit geraten: Transkonduktanz, was soviel bedeutet wie „Umsetzung von Strom in Spannung” und umgekehrt. Autor Menno van der Veen hat diese Methode wieder zum Leben erweckt und gab ihr den Arbeitstitel „Trans”. Die Hintergründe und Eigenschaften werden genau so sorgfältig beschrieben wie die Fallstricke dieses Verfahrens, die Schritt für Schritt eliminiert werden. Dies führt letztlich zu einer Liste strenger Bedingungen, die von Trans erfüllt werden müssen. Mit diesen Geräten entwickelt er neue Trans-Verstärker, die mit Trans-Mini-1 und Trans-Mini-2 beginnen. Dabei handelt es sich um einfach nachzubauende, DC-gekoppelte Single-Ended-Röhrenverstärker mit ungeahnt guten Eigenschaften. Anschließend wird Trans an Verstärker mit höherer Leistung angepasst. Durch abwechselnde Rückschläge und Erfolge schließlich entsteht der Vanderveen-Trans-30, in welchem das Gute des Trans noch weiter verbessert wurde. Die besonderen Eigenschaften dieses Verstärkers waren es, die Menno van der Veen schließlich zu der Aussage bewogen, „Gold” in seinen Händen zu halten. Mittels Simulation und Vergleich mit anderen Verstärkertypen werden die Trans-Bedingungen erneut überprüft, um sicher zu stellen, dass Abweichungen in den Röhren das optimale Verhalten von Trans nicht beeinflussen. Steeds vaker komen we op smartphones en tablet-computers het besturingssysteem Android tegen. Het aantal toepassingsprogramma's – de zogenaamde applicaties of kortweg apps - waarmee de apparaten individueel aan de voorkeuren en wensen van de gebruiker kunnen worden aangepast, neemt van dag tot dag toe. En de steeds betere technische uitvoering en uitrusting van de apparaten maken het nu mogelijk toepassingen te 'draaien' waarvoor een paar jaar geleden nog een desktop-PC of speciale hardware vereist was. Inmiddels kan elke smartphone de exacte (geografische) positie bepalen, video's opnemen – en nog veel meer. Maar bij het individualiseren van onze smartphone hoeven we ons niet te beperken tot kant-en-klare applicaties! Het is namelijk helemaal niet zo moeilijk om zelf Android-apparaten te programmeren en eigen apps te schrijven. Dit boek vormt een inleiding tot het programmeren van apps voor Android-apparaten. De werking van het Android-systeem wordt op begrijpelijke manier uitgelegd en we zien stap voor stap hoe applicaties kunnen worden geprogrammeerd. Aan de hand van een groot aantal voorbeelden worden allerlei toepassingsmogelijkheden getoond.
