Wie Mikrocontroller-Module aufgebaut sind und wozu sie verwendet werden, soll in 'Mikrocontroller-Module – Grundlagen und Selbstbau' dargestellt werden. Das vorliegende Buch beleuchtet Mikrocontroller-Module, die vor allem zum Experimentieren, zum Lernen und zum Einarbeiten in die Entwicklung und Programmierung von Embedded Systems gedacht sind. Die Entwurfsgrundsätze, Lösungsvorschläge und Projekte, die in diesem Buch beschrieben werden, sind aus zwei Ideen hervorgegangen: Erstens können neue Entwicklungen zwischen den weit verbreiteten kostengünstigen Mikrocontroller-Modulen und der industriellen Computer- und Steuerungstechnik ihren Platz finden und zweitens ist es eine Herausforderung an sich, solche Module zu entwickeln und einzusetzen. In den ersten sieben Kapiteln dieses Buches werden die technischen Grundlagen diskutiert und anhand eigener Entwicklungen veranschaulicht. Retro Radio is een praktijkboek voor beginners en uitermate geschikt voor iedereen die wel eens een radio zou willen bouwen en meer wil weten over de radiotechniek. Na een inleiding in de beginselen van de techniek en de radio-ontvangst op de korte golf komen een aantal eenvoudige radio-ontwerpen aan bod. Het gaat om radio’s voor de middengolf en korte golf, waarbij de KG radio’s geschikt zijn voor de ontvangst van Single Side Band signalen. Het “retro” karakter dankt het boek aan het feit dat de gepubliceerde schakelingen klassiekers zijn uit de analoge radiotechniek. Ze zijn geïnspireerd door schakelingen uit de jaren ’50 en de begintijd van de radiotechniek. De auteur grijpt terug op de radio in zijn meest elementaire vorm. Al het “overbodige” is uit de schakelingen weggelaten. Er wordt gewerkt met spoelen, afstemcondensatoren, keramische filters en spoelfilters. Alle schakelingen zijn gebouwd met gewone transistors en een veldeffecttransistor. Elektronische chips worden niet gebruikt. Overigens is aan de nieuwste ontwikkelingen niet helemaal voorbij gegaan. Er is ook een SDR ontwerp opgenomen. Een greep uit de schema’s: een kristalradio, verschillende middengolf ontvangers (ook met een radiobuis), een “oer” schema geïnspireerd door de begintijd van de radio, twee korte golf ontvangers met SSB (2-12 MHz en 6-17 MHz) en een ontvanger voor de 80 meter band. Verder is in dit boek bijzonder veel aandacht besteed aan de praktische constructie van de radio’s en zijn er verschillende eenvoudige meetapparaten beschreven die dienst kunnen doen bij het ontwerpen en testen van radio’s (meetzender, absorptiemeter, transistortester e.d.).

Il s'est également imposé chez les informaticiens expérimentés. La société Adafruit a développé une version spéciale de Python pour l'embarquer sur les microcontrôleurs à 32 bits : CircuitPython. Ce livre permettra au lecteur de s'initier à la programmation en CircuitPython sur deux cartes : Feather BlueFruit Sense (également appelée Feather nRF52840 Sense) et CLUE nRF52840 Express. Chacune est animée par le SoC nRF52840 de NORDIC avec une architecture à 32 bits. Pour ce voyage dans le monde de la programmation embarquée, l'auteur sort du chemin classique, à savoir un cours complet sur la programmation orientée objet appliquée à ce langage. Il préfère emmener le lecteur directement sur le terrain avec des projets qui mettent en oeuvre les cartes et différents périphériques. Plus d'une quarantaine d'exemples et de montages permettent de découvrir la richesse de CircuitPython. Toutefois l'auteur s'est imposé une limite pour ne pas décourager les novices : le code de chaque projet ne dépasse jamais la centaine de lignes. In this book the author presents all essential aspects of microcontroller programming, without overloading the reader with unnecessary or quasi-relevant bits of information. Having read the book, you should be able to understand as well as program, 8-bit microcontrollers. The introduction to microcontroller programming is worked out using microcontrollers from the PIC series. Not exactly state-of-the-art with just 8 bits, the PIC micro has the advantage of being easy to comprehend. It is offered in a DIP enclosure, widely available and not overly complex. The entire datasheet of the PIC micro is shorter by decades than the description of the architecture outlining the processor section of an advanced microcontroller. Simplicity has its advantages here. Having mastered the fundamental operation of a microcontroller, you can easily enter into the realms of advanced softcores later.
