The GT-521F52 high performance fingerprint scanner can be used for access control, security, identification and convenience. This one-chip optical sensor module was designed for easy integration into applications with serial interface (UART). Only two wires are required for TX and RX, plus two wires for power supply (5V).
The idle module is woken by a finger touching the metal frame of the sensor. The pictures of the fingerprints are processed on-board by the fingerprint algorithm (low power 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 processor) and converted into strings of data. These so-called ‘templates’ are residing on the module configured as USB mass storage device. They can also be stored and shared through a database with other modules in a network, allowing easy enrollment of many users.
