A number of CD-ROMs contained in PICkit 2 packages contain software version 1.21. To be able to run the demo programs discussed in the article series, v. 1.21 needs to be upgraded to a later version (currently 2.10.1) available free of charge from:

Select 'PICkit 2 V2.10.1 Install with .NET Framework' which is found towards the middle of the page.

Microchip have sent acknowledgement emails to readers having solved the March 2007 Crypto Puzzle. Owing to technical difficulties with Microchip's email address, winners will be drawn at random from those who participated before 20 March 2007. Winners will be informed by separate correspondence before the end of March 2007. Everyone who successfully solved the puzzle will receive a free Microchip pen & wallet.
