Elektor 2008 Publishing Plan
Elektor magazine aims at inspiring people to master electronics at any personal level by presenting construction projects and spotting developments in electronics and information technology. Elektor is published 11 times a year with a double issue for July & August. The magazine is available from newsagents, bookshops and electronics retail outlets, on subscription and on-line as a monthly pdf download. Elektor is Europe’s widest circulated publication on electronics and computer technology and currently the world’s only electronics magazine with an in-house design laboratory. Elektor publishes more circuits per year than any of its UK, US or Australian competitors in the market. Elektor has been on sale and distribution throughout the world since 1975, without change of title.

Publishing plan for 2008
Issue | Main Theme | About | Keywords & Ideas | January 2008 PUBLISHED | ELEKTOR UNPLUGGED | Elektor 'pulls the plug' and looks into energy saving concepts, clever stand-by solutions for equipment and low-energy consumption technologies. With a real competition staged with Intel, in which we challenge the readers to come up with working solutions to enable a notebook PC to run without batteries or mains power. | Energy saving technologies, clever stand-by solutions, low-power design, wireless energy, UPS technologies, switch-mode power supplies, power electronics, CO2 meter, long-term power savings. | February 2008 PUBLISHED | LIGHT & UNIVERSITY | A weird double theme, or perhaps not? Elektor wants to shine a light on universities, their curricula and electronics courses. Besides we take the reader into the world of new LED technologies, Vision, Light transmission and IR cameras. | Surround Light for PC and TV; new LED technologies, Vision technologies, displays, sensors, IR, Uv. | March 2008 PUBLISHED | EMBEDDED | Electronics used to be lots of hardware, and that seems to change rapidly. Software and programming are becoming the prominent factors now. This Elektor issue will look into embedded solutions, new operating systems and how they make new electronic applications possible. | Linux, real time OS, debugging, compilers. | April 2008 PUBLISHED | HOME | The home environment is becoming more and more a place to relax and enjoy yourself with music, video and photography. Also, your home is the ideal place for home automation (domotics). New technologies make it possible to control everything in your house. How does it all work and what can you do yourself? | Home Automation, consumer electronics, audio, photography, video, LCD displays, sound cards, USB solutions. | May 2008 PUBLISHED | SENSORS & MEASUREMENT | With new sensor technologies, a world of applications is opening up. But how can we put that into action? This Elektor will explain how to measure and control the 'real world' and will introduce new ideas on how to use relevant technologies. | Overview of technologies, calibration, transmission technologies.A/D conversion. | June 2008 PUBLISHED | COOL ELECTRONICS | Cool' in either meaning of the word. Cooling technologies, but also in design. Clever design combined with clever electronics will become more and more interesting. | Cooling technologies, practical cooling for PCs, amps, etc. SMPSU in theory and practice. | July & August 2008 PRODUCED. IN PRINT. | THE GREAT OUTDOORS | Our Summer Double Issue will be dedicated to electronics and outdoor life. In the summer we spend time on campings or on the beach, climbing and hiking. What's nicer than to have a double issue packed with all kinds of outdoor electronics? | Outdoor electronics, GPS | September 2008 IN PRODUCTION | MEDITRONICS | Being healthy and feeling likewise is not only a personal thing; whole industries are dedicated to keep you going and spend serious amounts of money. Lots of relevant equipment contains electronics. Elektor takes you on a tour along DIY healthy living. | Heart Rate Meter, demagnetiser, mind manager, ioniser, muscle contraction meter, biofeedback, hearing aids, medinose.tv. | October 2008 IN PRODUCTION | WIRELESS | Wireless technologies are key in many new applications and gadgets. But how can you get control over those high frequencies yourself? How to design you own applications? How to understand RF control technology and how to harness it for your own use? | Antenna design, Zigbee, SDR, USB radio, Bluetooth, WiFi, Wimax, RF transmission masterclass, DVBT (Digitenna) antenna redesign. Radio GaGa technologies. | November 2008 IN PRODUCTION | ON THE MOVE | How to get from A to B? By car, bike or public transport? What is the role of electronics in today's moving, driving and flying world, and how can you get control yourself? Will you able to build your own Segway or rest content with buying one? | Electrobikes, cars, automotive, robotics, track & trace, Motion control, GPS powering, batteries, mechatronics, accelerometers, QuadroCopters. | December 2008 IN PRODUCTION | i-TRIXX Xmas Special | With the pace new technologies are developing, people sometimes overlook the possibilities of discrete components, what it takes to build them into a circuit -- and have fun! This issue will take you through the Christmas holiday season and make sure you have enough new ideas to start the new year. | Strong focus on analogue design technologies, special i-TRIXX section, will electronics of the future be more hardware or software focused? |
