Tektronix launches portable scopes for embedded design development

Tektronix has launched its DPO3000 Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope (DPO) series of portable models that extends the advantages first introduced with the DPO/MSO 4000 series. The DPO3000 provides triggering and decode support for the most popular serial buses used in embedded system design applications, including I2C, SPI, RS-232/422/485/UART, CAN and LIN. The scopes are also compact, measuring 14 cm deep and weighing 4 kg.

The DPO3000 oscilloscope family consists of six models, ranging from 100 MHz to 500 MHz. All models provide 2.5 GS/s sampling with >5x oversampling on all channels. A 5M record length is standard on all channels for capturing long time windows of signal activity with very high resolution. They also feature Wave Inspector navigation and search controls to simplify finding events of interest, and they boast serial triggering, protocol decoding, USB plug-and-play PC connectivity, and a 9-inch WVGA display to show more detail in the horizontal axis for better recognition of glitches and fine details.

The new models have a front-panel USB host (thumb drive) for easy transfer of screenshots, setups and waveform data to a PC, and Ethernet and a USB device (TMC) port on the rear for plug-and-play PC connectivity. They also provide the TekVPI probe interface for communication between the DPO3000 and TekVPI probes. A variety of TekVPI voltage and current probes are available.

The DPO3VID Video Application Module adds a set of HDTV and custom video triggers. Combined with the with built-in, selectable 75-W termination, this makes the DPO3000 suitable for designs using modern video standards.
