The aquaculture industry, particularly the mussel cultivation, is now taking its first steps to adopt technology that allows an easy and reliable inventory control and production planning.
SABATE Project aims to create an information system covering the complete crop cycle, from planting to harvest through the intermediate processes like splitting, updating the stock tracking register at any time. This project has been developed by the Galician company Concepción Suárez Fernández, in collaboration with the Systems Engineering and Automation Department of Vigo University, subsidized in part by the Xunta de Galicia INCITE Program.
The improvement and control in the whole process is achieved with the incorporation of RFID tags that identify individual mussel ropes whilst constantly keeping the inventory updated, facilitating the processes of registering and cancelling.
During the last 6 months of testing, the RFID tags on the hatchery have fully complied to the project specification.
Premo Group has been developing special passive RFID Tags for environments where the climatic conditions are particularly severe, especially in terms of mechanical strength, splash and immersion, exposure to sunlight, etc.
Information on the RFID system features, values charts and dimensions may be found via the link below.
