Parallax releases new accessory products

Parallax, well known to many Elektor readers for its robotics products, has released several new accessory products, including a micro SD-Card adapter, a 433-MHz RF transceiver module, a three-axis accelerator module, and a 7-V motor, bracket and wheel kit.

The micro-SD Card adapter (32312) makes it easy to connect a micro-SD Flash Memory Card to the Propeller chip or another microcontroller. This adapter includes the components required for an SPI interface between the host microcontroller and a micro-SD memory card.

The Parallax RF transceiver (27982) is a very easy to use, low cost module capable of sending serial data wirelessly between microcontrollers or to a PC. Its low power consumption makes this module ideal for use in battery powered applications. This module sends and receives data by AM or CPCA modulation, providing higher average output power for extended range.

The Freescale Semiconductor MMA7455L 3-axis digital output accelerometer (28526) is a low power, micro machined sensor capable of measuring acceleration along its X, Y, and Z axes. It offers several convenient integrated features including an analog to digital converter (ADC), digital low-pass filter, and selectable sensitivity ranges of ±2g, ±4g, or ±8g. This device can be easily configured to detect quick motion pulses such as single taps, double taps, and zero-g (free fall) conditions on any or all axes and provides configurable interrupt pins (INT1 and INT2) for each type of event.

The 7.2V motor, bracket and wheel kit (570-00070) offers versatility, durability and simplicity all in one box! The lightweight, sturdy aluminum brackets are machined from 6063 aluminium extrusion and anodized black for improved scratch resistance and aesthetic appeal. The high quality 7.2 Volt DC motors feature durable construction and all-metal gears that stand up to rough terrain and abuse, with a top speed corresponding to approximately 6.6 feet/second (2.0 m/s), which is ideal for most medium-size or small robotic projects.
