A walk through the Elektor Labs always yields something peculiar. All guests get a standard tour of the catacombs where the Labs are based, and are told about the Last Witch of Holland who met her demise within these walls. Where exactly she died remains pure speculation... was she hanged from the hooks on the ceiling, maybe the water well was her final resting place… could that black mark on the ceiling be the remainder of a fire?
Our Labs were a closed-off section when we moved into the castle -- the key is still missing. We used to joke about the corpses we would find in there... until one day the door was opened.
The door was forced out of its hinges, and in the dark and dusty space stood a coffin. This of course put a bit of a damper on the uproarious atmosphere. Fortunately, the local drama club shed some light on this dark mystery; they had been missing the coffin for a while now and were glad it had been recovered.
You won't be surprised to hear that we dislike working overtime in the Labs; nobody wants to wait till dusk to try and solder a final circuit. Rumour has it that the lights will flicker on and off at midnight, and that the hoarse voice of the Editor in Chief echoes through the corridors ... “the Circuit must be Finished by Tomorrow, our Readers are Waiting”.
You will be even less surprised to know that we gladly embraced the solar cell test soon to be published in Elektor June 2009; working outside in the sun, bit of measuring here, taking photos there and a fair amount of sitting on the grass. Ah, the good life!
