Since its introduction in May 2009, the Elektor PCB Service has been extended and enhanced not just in terms of service levels but also as a total concept. Queries, criticisms and other responses we got from you, our customers were evaluated and used to make several improvements we now have an occasion to summarise for you.
Cheaper
Elektor PCB Service opts for quality for a fair price. This choice means that absolute rock-bottom prices cannot be guaranteed, we do however guarantee tested, quality boards! There are however readers who think a lower price is more important than fast delivery. That’s why the new ‘budget’ option is introduced alongside the existing ‘standard’ option. A budget order means a longer delivery time — 5working days to be accurate, but also a considerable cost saving! You can calculate the difference for yourself using our online calculator. PCB quality is by no means compromised with ‘budget’ orders.
Payment
Customers have indicated a need to allow for payment using bank transfer besides the well-established credit card method. Bank transfer is now also possible, although the processing time will be a little longer (2 or 3 working days), because manual processing is required at our end. For Dutch clients only, the option of paying using ‘iDeal’ has been substantially enhanced.
Support for Eagles
So far, only Extended Gerber (RS274X) files were supported for the copper tracks, solder mask and text layers of the PCB. From now on, you can also supply files created using the popular Eagle PCB design software. Elektor PCB Service staff converts your Eagle files (.brd) into Extended Gerber for further processing. This should answer the wishes of many of our readers and other clients.

In view of the amount of queries received on our new service, it is difficult and time consuming to answer all customers individually. This web page is structured as a discussion forum with one essential difference: you’re not granted access to post messages. New questions and answers are added from time to time, as well as things to know about the Elektor PCB Service. Ideally, you don’t have to wait long for a reply to your query — it may be there instantly on the Q & A board.
