Developer’s kit eases design of self-powered wireless networks

The EnOcean EDK 300 developer's kit provides an easy starting point for implementing bidirectional, self-powered wireless communication networks. It enables users to develop complex hardware and software design for new products based on the Dolphin EO3000i platform.  The kit comes complete with cabling, power supply, software CD and user manual.

The self-powered, wireless sensor products facilitate easy integration and faster time to market with a focus on energy-efficient applications. The Dolphin system architecture lets designers implement bidirectional sensors, such as remote controls and room sensors with a feedback display, that can operate without batteries. Actuators such as radiator valves can be connected without cables and batteries and can be controlled wirelessly from a central location for easy updating.

All wireless modules (868 MHz) in the EDK 300 family can be programmed for custom applications using an API interface. Designed for batteryless designs with multiple energy harvesters, the STM 300 transceiver board features an on-board solar cell and energy management functions.

Additional plug-ins support energy harvesting from external solar, thermal, pushbutton, piezoelectric and vibration sources. They support multiple energy storage modes and several different sensors for temperature, light, or air quality. By contrast, the TCM 300 and TCM 320 transceivers are ideal for use in line-powered devices such as flush-mounted actuators, repeaters or gateways.

All bidirectional wireless modules come with standard building automation firmware. Users can also generate their own firmware, which can be downloaded to individual wireless modules from the Dolphin Studio environment using a programming adapter. WinETEL serial communication software enables users to send, receive, save and analyse wireless data packets.
