GNU/Linux provides interfaces and applications for devices that we are used to seeing on desktop computers and servers. Much of this transfers to the embedded domain, where Linux relieves the programmer of a lot of work by handling networking, USB, Bluetooth and more without the need to write complex dedicated C programs. And as we shall see, using a modern operating system brings many other benefits too.
