Load Protection for Audio Amplifiers

In order to be effective, any protection device connected between an audio amplifier output and the speakers needs to connect the load only after a few seconds' delay, disconnect it immediately the mains supply is turned off, and prevent any high-level DC component from being able to damage the loudspeakers. The cheap and simple circuit discussed in this article meets all these criteria.
