Published in issue 375, March 2008

Harald Kipp first became interested in Open Source software and in those early days he was happy to look on it as a hobby interest rather than serious work. Thanks to the arrival of the Internet towards the end of the 1990s Harald found that he was not alone in his hobby. In fact the potential of networked communication became the source of inspiration for the project that was to go on to change his life.
