USB/UART Interfaces
The first chips to interface between the USB bus and asynchronous serial busses (UARTs) appeared in the early 2000s. These ICs make it possible to connect any device that requires a full duplex asynchronous serial link (whether RS-232 compatible or not) to a USB host bus. This article presents an up to date overview of the chips available to designers.
