Reforming old capacitors
Large power supply reservoir capacitors have always been expensive and certainly in this category it is definitely worth the effort to try to breathe new life into them. And of course, it is this category that generates the most spectacular ‘explosions’ when something goes wrong...
This can be avoided by waking op the capacitor slowly (that is: reform the oxide layer slowly).
