Miniature radio controlled cars are great fun for the armchair rally enthusiast but once the novelty has worn off or the car suffers a mechanical failure any true electronics enthusiast is more likely to reach for their smallest size Phillips screwdriver rather than toss the car straight into the dustbin. This design shows how just such a model R/C system can be adapted to act as a (W)LAN Router ‘watchdog’ to switch the Router on or off depending whether any networked PCs are present.
