Free Energy

some say it exists

Published in issue 311, June 2002

The word ‘free’ is always sure to trigger reader response but we’d say hold your horses. Here, the word should be taken to mean ‘liberated’ or even ‘from an unknown source’.Recently, when one of our readers kindly pointed us to a website describing so-called ‘free energy devices’ we were lead to believe it was either a hoax or a belated April spoof. However on closer inspection of a number of circuits on this website we found the subject intriguing, then fascinating, and quickly abandoned the initial impression of ‘a bag ‘o joke circuits’. Of course, you are free to your own opinion, but we found the subject sufficiently interesting to cover it on this month’s Electronics Online pages.
