Universal Rev Counter
Published in issue 294, December 2000
This rev counter is unusual in that it has no direct electrical connection to the ignition system of the engine. It is also unnecessary to add a winding to an ignition lead. If the ignition system on the engine is electronic then all that is necessary for the spark impulse signal pickup is a length of wire positioned 10-30 cm from the ignition lead. For an engine with magneto ignition this distance will be less.
