Hello,
As I understand it, the unit of measurement called the Joule is based on a Watt per second. One Joule is 1 Watt per second.
over a 5 second period would you multiply your Watt answer by 5, is that correct?
I'm trying to find a fault and the manufacturer says the power output is 1.76 Joules, but the circuit operates for 5 second periods?
What I don't know is when the numbers are given like that, is that 1.76 joules based on a one second measurement or a 5 second measurement?
eg; 1.76 Joules x 5 seconds = 8.8Joules.

Hi Trevor,
1 Joule = 1 Watt for 1 second (notice not per second). So if you push 1Amp into a 1 Ohm resistor for 5 seconds then you have used up energy equal to 5 Joules.
