Important message to all users of the Experimental RFID Reader (Elektor Electronics September 2006, page 34). From Martin Ohsmann The Experimental RFID Reader will display the sequence of bytes written on the card, instead of the UID (cf. the MIFARE datasheet and the description of the reader). The UID is however easy to derive from the information displayed by the Reader. Example. If the Experimental RFID Reader indicates the following sequence (on the display or via RS232): 04 2F 58 FB F9 13 7A 00 the UID is: 04 2F 58 F9 13 7A 00 (i.e. 04 2F 58 F9 13 7A 00) Hence the same sequence, only the fourth byte (here, FB) should be crossed out because it is a checksum (BCC). Unfortunately I did not have a card with a known UID available when I wrote the article for Elektor. I hope this information will enable all users of the Experimental RFID Reader to resolve RFID card UIDs correctly. Martin Ohsmann
