Hi,
I recently purchased directly from your website items:
14132 (OBD2 analyser kit), 14133 (LCD) and 14134 (case).
Upon opening the kit of parts there's everything you'd expect, including a few extras. Two small PCB boards and a handful of surface mount parts.
My first question is, how does one go about constructing this project? The article contains no schematic in the magazine and the PCB only lists component numbers, not values.
Has anyone else built this kit - if so where did you obtain the instructions?

We used to assume that people would buy a kit after reading an article but obviously with an online shop available we need to rethink... Over to our commercial dept.!

I too found confusion. There were many more component positions on the board than were used. Fortunately figs5 and 6 solved that problem.
The unit didn't work. I then looked carefully at the orientation of the main i-c module and found discrepancies between the information shown in figs 8b and 8c and the info in fig5. The gold dot is in different positions and I had followed figs 8b and 8c. I was able to carefully unplug the module and turn it round 90 degrees and the unit then carried out the first test properly. Figs 8 show a transistor alongside C10 but there is no transistor for that position and the unit seems to work - further confusion !
The magazine article also states that a shortform manual is supplied with the kit of parts - I didn't get one. I am hoping to download the manual but haven't found it so far.

I agree - I had the same confusion about the orientation
of the controller and no short form manual was supplied with the kit. The article in the magazine helped somewhat.
A few eeeks ago the manaul was available on the web site but now it has disappeared.

On my 1997 Ford Ranger (USA) the analyser shows DTC 2 however there is no further menu as per Page 52 Figure 10 of the 6/2007 article to view what the errors are. Therefore I cannot clear the trouble codes either. I hope I havent "hurt" the controller by my actions in my post above, obviously I am communicating to the vehicle so the interface is working ok - any ideas?

I also have to mention from my above posts that apart from the above the pcb was high class and was a pleasure to assemble.

Today after a long time perhaps one builder has indicated successful making and working.
It is Jeffj who made it as he assembled.-- Great of Him.
It is in another heading -- "my circuit works" Tell every one.
Perhaps EE may place a copy of that post here, if not shifting it.
