Has anybody successfully built this instrument? (Elektor 5/2004)
I tried but failed -
The LCD display shows only "rubbish" and there is no indication of speed or direction on the PC screen.(I noticed the missing ground connection to the DB9 connector!)
I have pulses from the sensors! All components and connections are checked
I tried several different PIC:s - no improvement
I tried to re-compile the assembler code - lots of errors in MPLAB

Any ideas - anyone?

It works now!
I found an error in the schematic:
The connections to the LCD are mixed up:
D4 should be connected to pin 21,
D5 to 22,
D6 to 23,
D7 to 24.
Then the LCD works OK!
Also you must be patient - after one (1) minute you get the first readings of speed and direction on the LCD and the PC.
