This is a repeat to a follow up question I placed in regard to the sound quality of Elektor final amps. Original Question After thoughtful comments from Harry Baggen, I have decided to build bridged versions of High End Power Amp from 2005. However looking over parts and PCBs I had previously purchased, I realised I have most of the parts required for the Class A Power Amplifier published in Nov/Dec 1991. Does anyone have any experience in building this amplifier? I was wondering how the sound quality may compare to the High End amp. My initial feeling is that the devices used in this amp (particularly the differential amp) and reduced complexity and reliance on matched current mirrors, may outweigh the advantages of the regulated power supply for the driver stage, the output devices, and the (semi) class A biasing present in the Class A design. Any comments welcome. thanks Nigel
