For sale - ZIF PLCC-44 to DIL-40 adaptor for programming PICs. Was designed for PIC16F871/874/877 but should work with all PICs that come in both these two packages.
Was made for a project a while back, used briefly and now no longer needed.
£30 plus £2.50 for UK delivery - will post outside UK if required.

Yep, understood - in many cases ICSP is convenient, but not always.
Take for example a client the other side of the country/world who needs to have a software update. If the chip is not removable you have to either
a) Replace the board therefore ending up with a second hand board in exchange for a new one,
b) Ask them nicely to send their board back and hope they don't mine not having it for a couple of weeks, or
c) Give them the software, a programmer interface and instructions on how to upgrade it - allowing them to duplicate your electronics should they wish to.
OR
Have the chip in a socket and just send them a £2 replacement chip!
