Hello everyone,

Did anyone try building the inverter, figure 4, on page 49? Mine does not work. The red LED stays lite regardless of the position of the base circuit switch. The green LED does light with the closing of the switch BUT the transistor does not effect the red LED. Anyone try it??

There has to be an error in the schmatic. The red LED is in parallel with the power source ALWAYS! If one checks the green LED it is in parallel with the power source when the switch is closed also. The transistor is NOT directly in either of those circuits. How does it have any effect on either LED?

Anyone?

The circuit as shown in Figure 4, p49, Feb 2012 is correct. With the switch open, the GRN LED should be off with the RED LED on, because the BC547 is in cutoff. With the switch closed you should have roughly 0.6V from Base to Emitter of the BC547. This should turn on the BC547 into saturation, to confirm measure the BC547 Vce saturation voltage, which should be less than a volt, resulting in the RED LED turning off.

Thanks for the advice, it's working now for me.
