Hello Profiler,
there is a new ColiDrive-release (44) available on the ColinBus-download-server, containing a new TARGET-importfilter. May be, you will miss some bugs ...

It would really help if the Colinbus site added
dates to the files posted, so you can easily tell
if a file has been updated.

Hi Peter,
Thanks, that's a better page then the one I was using,
seems the one I used had an older version on it too.
hmm, even the version here (looks like the same) gives
me the install error...
A later version of 'ColiDrive edition' is already installed
on this machine. Setup can not continue.
Any tips ?

djam1Any tips ? Yep...dump your Colinbus [offensive language - warning # 1 to user] and buy a LPKF machine and have a hassle free pcb making, milling and engraving life. I did, and have not looked back since. The LPKF was delivered in a few days from point of order, it worked straight out of the box and has not required ANY software updates as there are no bugs. No brainer really... I'm using the LPKF machine to make replacement controller boards for the Profiler mechanics so I can run the Mach controller software, which is also a product that works out of the box. If you want to do simple pcb's via the Mach controller you will need to download one of the free converter progs that are out there. Google is your friend in this matter.

Hi Bartman,
I have to say, I am happy Profiler user. Can you tell me what did you pay that LPKF machine? My profiler was not too expensive and up to now worth every cent I invested.

why are you showing me another Colinbus machine? I bought Profiler for the budget I could afford myself. I was just asking you what is the price of that LPKF machine and you keep avoiding the answer.

I have to agree with Bartman ! Got the profiler four weeks ago and built it in a day have spent the rest of the time tearing my hair out trying to use the software and get any kind of reasonable results from the machine. I use a vendor who uses a LPKF machine and the difference in quality is worlds apart  Also, when you register Collinear you end up with a crippled version that does not do double sided PCBs and does not import Excellon drill files neither of which were mentioned in the magazine article. I think the hardware has promise so I am going to look into the Mach system and see if I can salvage something from the €1000+ Andy

Hello milling people,
this picture shows the limits of my Profiler. PCB is done with Target-version .44, milled with Ferm-spindel and 60°-cutter.
Doublesided pcbs have been made in similar quality, sufficient for home-employment. A comparison with LPKF is not intended. That would be quite unfair, as we say in Germany: You shouldn't compare apples with pears ( means 1600€-investment versus 10000€ and more)

I am impressed with the quality of the PCB routing, I have not been able to get anywhere near that ! How long did it take you from building the profiler to getting those kind of results ?

P.S. It is not my intention to compare a €1000 machine with a €10000 machine however, I don't agree in the argument that it is cheap so you cannot expect quality.

Hi Andy,
it took a lot of time and some failures, no "plug and play" at all.
I modified Profiler and Ferm-spindel in several ways. You can see it in the german forum. But that was my intention: "The way is my target" (or something similar...)
