E-blocks: Learn-Design-Build

E-blocks™ are small circuit boards each of which contains a block of electronics that you would typically find in an electronic or embedded system. There are more than 40 separate circuit boards in the range; from simple LED boards to more complex boards like device programmers, Bluetooth and TCP/IP. E-blocks can be snapped together to form a wide variety of systems that can be used for teaching/learning electronics and for the rapid prototyping of complex electronic systems. E-blocks enable you to do anything that comes into your mind.

Separate ranges of complementary software, curriculum, sensors and applications information are available.

Flowcode is one of the world’s most advanced graphical programming languages for micro-
controllers (PIC, AVR and ARM). The great advantage of Flowcode is that it allows those with little to no programming experience to create complex electronic systems in minutes. Flowcode is a powerful language that uses macros to facilitate the control of complex devices like 7-segment displays, motor controllers, and LCD displays. The use of macros allows students to control highly complex electronic devices without getting bogged down in understanding the programming involved. More >>>

Flowcode contains standard flow chart icons and electronic components that allow to you to create a virtual electronic system on screen. Drag icons and components onto the screen to create a program, then click on them to set properties and actions.

• Easy to use interface

• Allows complex programs to be developed and managed quickly

• Supports the PICmicro, AVR and ARM series of microcontrollers.

Once your system is designed you can use Flowcode to simulate it in action. Design your system on screen, test the system’s functionality by clicking on switches or altering sensor or input values, and see how your program reacts to the changes in the electronic system.

• Simulation aids understanding

• Debug before download

• Shorten the design cycle

When you are happy with your design click one button to send the program directly to your microcontroller based target. Targets include a wide range of microcontroller programmers, upstream E-blocks boards, the Formula Flowcode robot, the MIAC industrial controller, or your own system based on ECIO technology.

• One button download

• Fast action

• Flexible and expandable

Formula Flowcode Buggy

Formula Flowcode is a low cost robot vehicle which is used to teach and learn robotics, and to provide a platform for competing in robotics events. The specification of the Formula Flowcode buggy is high with direct USB programming, line following sensors, distance sensors, 8 onboard LEDs, sound sensor, speaker and an E-blocks expansion port. The buggy is suitable for a wide range of robotics exercises from simple line following through to complete maze solving. The robot is supplied with a reduced functionality version of our Flowcode software. More >>>

ECIO

The ECIO family of USB programmable microcontroller modules device behaves just like a normal microcontroller – but when you plug the USB lead in and press the reset switch you can send a new program to the device. This, and the low cost, makes ECIO ideal for student work at home and for incorporating into student circuit boards. ECIO microcontrollers are pre-programmed with a bootloader program which allows you to send a new program to the microcontroller via USB. ECIO is compatible with hex code from any appropriate compiler including Flowcode, C compilers and MPLAB. ECIO is well supported with a wide range of learning and development tools including Flowcode and E-blocks. More >>>

MIAC

MIAC (Matrix Industrial Automotive Controller) is an industrial grade control unit which can be used to control a wide range of different electronic systems including sensing, monitoring and automotive. It has a number of applications in industry and learning. Internally the MIAC is powered by a powerful 18 series PICmicro device which connects directly to the USB port. Flowcode is supplied with the unit making MIAC fast and easy to program with Flowcharts. MIAC is supplied with an industrial standard CAN bus interface. This allows you to develop systems incorporating a large number of MIACs up to 500 metres apart. More >>>

FlowKit

The FlowKit can be connected to microcontroller hardware systems to provide a real time debug facility where it is possible to step through the Flowcode program on the PC, and step through the program in the hardware at the same time. The system is controlled from within the Flowcode environment where controls allow users to start, stop, pause and step through their program one icon at a time. Under user control the Flowcode software shows the location of the program in the flow chart, the value of all variables in the program, and allows users to alter the variable values when the program is paused. Flowkit can be used on microcontrollers supported by Flowcode 4.2 and later. It is compatible with E-blocks, user's own hardware and third party PIC and AVR programming systems. It is compatible with Matrix USB systems such as Formula Flowcode, MIAC and ECIO devices (PICmicro ECIO only). More >>>
